i tell you what...if i finish this sweater - and i actually like it - i think i will feel more accomplished than i ever have in my life.

i will post a picture soon.

* * *

it occured to me today that the cowls i've been making would be really great for toddlers & kids. especially since it's not really safe for the little ones to wear scarves. the cowls can't really be tightened into a choking hazard the way scarves can... we went to the park today and i kept thinking i wish i had something warm for tate's neck. duh!

so, as soon as i finish seaming together the body of this darn sweater i'm going to make one.

if i love it, i might make some more to bust through some of my stash yarn and sell them!

That would be awesome. We all have them instead of scarves - made out of polar fleece. [storebought - I didn't make them]. But I agree - so much better than a scarf. I even put the boys' sweatshirts on, hood up, then fleece cowl on. One extra way to keep things warm.

funny thing is that zach (although i'm sure this will be no surprise to you) was totally jealous of the cowl you made me. i think the knit pattern is too feminine for a man, but my HUSBAND is JEALOUS of MY COWL. how ridiculous is that? sort of. :)

i assume it is the littlest chick in the nest that you desire to adorn this garment?

Are they hard to make? Do you have a link for a pattern or something? They look like something I might really like, and I'd really like to give it a try, but I'm not that good at knitting, to be honest. I've never really gotten past scarves (though my mom used to knit a LOT, so if it's mostly just straight-forward and just one little detail is difficult, she could help me with that).

here's the pattern: http://thatpatti.livejournal.com/1308320

it's not hard - it's basically a short scarf with the ends sewn together. it's a lace pattern, so there are yarnovers and slipped stitches, etc. but if you need any help with that stuff you can watch the videos over at knitting-help.com.
